introduction to competitive swimming
Our competitive swim programme starts with our Development Squad (Females 8-14 and Males (8-15), and follows Swim England's LTAD plan (Long Term Athlete Development). The whole programme is headed by our Head Coach and supported by our Assistants and Volunteers. Here we aim to further develop our swimmers to be technically astute and for their swim skills to be as good as can be, we firmly believe that this forms the basis of a swimmer who will benefit and be more successful in the long term. Our goal here is to get many swimmers to begin to compete for us and start setting their own goals for swimming, whether that be to make the league gala teams, or achieve County times. Here our swimmers will also learn various skills to help them in their life outside of the pool such as commitment, discipline, work ethic, attendance, maintaining a positive attitude, leadership and social interaction skills (with peers and Coaches). Swimmers in this squad are expected to complete a minimum of 3 sessions per week
For swimmers coming externally or wanting a trial with our development squad the following attributes will be considered: Character, Drive, Potential, Skill Level on all four strokes, Coachability, Attendance and Attitude.
